The Hanging Obelisk
The Hanging Obelisk is an amazing example of ancient Egyptian engineering and is one of the most interesting artifacts displayed at the Grand Egyptian Museum. After an earthquake, the obelisk fell over but surprisingly stayed suspended on its side, which is why it’s called the “Hanging Obelisk.” It was originally meant for the Karnak Temple Complex but was later moved to Alexandria, where it was set up in the city’s central square.
