Enjoy the magnificent views of the Nile River while you take a motorboat to Kalabsha Temple located on the banks of Lake Nasser.The Temple of Kalabsha was built by the emperor Octavius Augustus in 30 BC, during the Roman Period. The construction of the temple was undertaken at the end of the Ptolemaic era but completed only under the emperor Augustus, the temple shows an interesting mix of typical themes of Egyptian and Roman culture, such as for example the curious images of the Roman emperor and the pharaohs worshiping ancient Egyptian deities. The structure includes a large pylon connected to the rest of the complex by a wall which creates an enclosed space.
A staircase leads to the roof, from which it is possible to admire the spectacular view of the lake and the High Dam and you can take many photos that remain in your memory.It was dedicated to Mandulis (Merul), the god of the sun. Kalabsha temple is considered the largest freestanding temple in Egyptian Nubia.
